Abstract
In order to survey the effict of radiation on the physiology of food poisoning microorganisms, spores of three strains of clostridium botulinum namely, 33A, 62A, and 51B, each of which has been known to be resistant, medium, and sensitive to radiation, respectively, had been irradiated and their recoveries in the media containing different concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl) were observed. Strains 33A and 62A showed higher resistance against NaCl than 51B suggesting an apparent correlation between radiation-resistance and NaCl sensitivity of the organism.
